Abby's "Zone"

Welcome to "Journals." Or perhaps "Blorg." Or perhaps

It makes no matter. This is things I write about and put on the rss feed. This is sort of just going to be whatever the fuck I want to write about here. Because I like to work on drafts by constant editing and like control over my space, I will likely keep drafts in a Secret Location and update the RSS whenever I feel like the next big update to the site is ready. Also, the RSS feed will NOT be rosting, rather links to pages on here that I can make to be malleable. The archive tab can be used to look at every previous one.

Starting From Zero

This is going to be messy. I'm just gonna write here until I have to sleep.

First of all, what is there to write about that hasn't been written about already on the topic of cohost? Attempting to write out a eulogy of sorts makes me feel lethargic, so I'll leave my thoughts on the table other than that if a worthy successor appears, I'll probably hear of it and eagerly join it. For now, it will have to leave a rather large void in my enjoyment of the internet at large. Rest assured, I will continue to post there until it goes offline.

As a result, this is going to be one of many shorter affairs to exist in "Journal." On the plus side, that means if you're seeing this, this site is online in a not-completely-embarrassing way! Hooray! Still a bit barebones though. One of the very eventual projects is the gradual un-shittification of this site. Like it doesn't look bad, but there's obviously work to be done. Hopefully an influence that's been had on me, Hypnospace Outlaw, has been showing in my work so far. But it hasn't much. Just a "hopefully" and a "so far" instead of a "fucking obviously"

One thing I will say is that cohost's imminent shutdown has lit a fire under me to actually get going with various projects instead of lazing about, some of which will be hosted exclusively on this site! This Includes in no particular order: (also, boy this site has a lot of lists right now??? Kinda ugly. Change later)

I'm also hoping that working on these will help me get past 2 problems that have been weighing on me recently - specifically that I haven't actually done any writing recently due to Bad Events™ that occurred just after I got really really into it, and aslo this problem I've realised I have recently where I even consider learning or starting a big project and just get dreadfully tired. Obviously these are just personality issues with myself that need fixing. Who doesn't have those? Who doesn't have I've been advised by my agent to not list them.

I have had the thought that I want to contribute a mod for a game to the Archipelago multiworld project, as I've been playing a lot, lot, lot of that recently. Like a lot. Solo randos, on-stream sync randos with my wife, partner, and various friends. Asyncs.

Which games? Uhhhhh like 25 of them. Some main ones including: Dark Souls 3, Hollow Knight, Outer Wilds, A Link Between Worlds, Pokemon Emerald, Ocarina of Time, just to list a few of my current favorites. The point is that I wanna give back to it in some way, but that's a more ambitious project that I expect to finish after the above.

Partially cause I don't actually currently know what game I would make it for. The pipe dream is Death's Gambit: Afterlife, one of my favorite games ever, but I might need professional help I don't know how to seek to learn how to even view the game code (it's a yoyo compiler gamemaker game which either requires the source code I'll never get or decompiling the game which I can't do by myself) let alone making a mod for it. There are other candidates I considered but it turned out they already had people working on them. Food for thought! Just not right now.

Boy it turns out I can fucking yap when I actually get the typing gears going huh????????????? See you soon!

EDIT: Oh and also it has comments now. It's an afterthought though - might be a while before it matters, and this probably won't even be the comments distributor I end up settling on! Likely, in fact! Just the first and easiest one I could think of.
